Halloween | Los Angeles Child Photographer
November 1, 2009
I need to start out by thanking my parents for all the patience, comforting, and walking around that comes along with celebrating Halloween with your children. Especially that one year when my niece and I went to this one house were a fake body rose up from a grave in front of the house we were walking towards. We screamed louder than one would have thought possible, and we ran back to the car fast. My dad calmed us down and walked us back to the house, slightly shielding us from the body, but also explaining that it was not real. Then there was the year where I had a Halloween party. My mom dressed as a witch, and she even removed her bridge to reveal a large gap where her 4 front teeth should have been. She went to the store to buy an actual tongue to use for part of the haunted house, and she even took the time to peel grapes so that we could use them for eyeballs 🙂 Thank you mom and dad for all the years you spent with me on Halloween!
I mention all this because last night I had my first glimpse at what parents go through on Halloween through adult eyes. I spent the night with my boyfriend’s brother and his family. When I arrived I was greeted by their eldest. She was already dressed up as sleeping beauty. I helped get their younger daughter ready as a butterfly. I think the sneakers were a nice added touch to her costume. Their son was the smiliest batman I have ever seen. We went tricker treating, and we handed out candy. Their younger daughter got scared when the neighbors turned on their Halloween sounds, so I carried her the whole night. My arm is still a bit soar today, but I really don’t mind a bit. She and I even worked out an agreement where if I said trick or treat at each home, she would say thank you. It almost worked, but the majority of her thank yous were whispered into my shoulder. I left around 8:30 and was ready for bed shortly there after. I had one of the nicest Halloweens I have had in a long time (barring last year which was lovely, but for very different reasons). It really made me appreciate all the Halloweens my parents spent with me.
I am attaching a few of my favorite photographs from early in the evening. I hope every one had a safe fun Halloween!
lil’ J’s First Photo Session | Los Angeles Child Photographer
October 24, 2009
I had a lovely morning photographing little “J” and spending time with his parents (dear friends of my boyfriend). “J” was a bit fussy for the first bit, but as soon as his bow tie tshirt went on, he was as happy as a clam. If I didn’t know better, I would even say that he started posing for me! His dad played the Ukulele (or as Hazel calls it, an “Uncle-Lady”) while his mom played the Squeaky B.
We even got a couple of shots of “J” in his father’s vintage J-200 case. I had a lot of fun this morning, and I am looking forward to showing his parents all of the photographs soon 🙂
Here are a couple favorites…
I have been working on these for a while, and I am very excited to announce that starting today these 4 Good Friends are now available for purchase (individually or as a set of 4). Each one comes in a custom Maple frame. I am completely in love with these frames, and I am now using them for all of my child photography as well. Each friend also comes with a story about how the 4 met. It is a really fun story written by the very talented Phil Hurley. I personally feel that Phil may have missed his calling as a children’s author 🙂 I want to send a very special thank you to Tamsin, one of the owner’s of Wee Soles. She helped originally come up with the idea of photographing vintage toys when I came in with my picture of Sophie. Thank you, Tamsin!

I had such a wonderful morning photographing these little cuties! I had so much fun. My personal favorite was the candid photographs that I took towards the end of A and T playing with their dad. Little A was a very good camera assistant too! I would write more, but I am a bit worn out after running around with these guys all morning 🙂
Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
A Little Man Named A… | Los Angeles Child Photographer
September 26, 2009
I had a wonderful time meeting A and his parents today. He certainly did not want to have his picture taken, but he also didn’t make a fuss 🙂 I have to give him a lot of credit, because he still let me take a bunch of pictures of him, and he even looked at the camera when I asked him too.
This is a sneak peek of a few of the images.
I hope you have a great Saturday!
Here are some of my favorites from the day. I love the one with T holding his hands staring at the camera. At three months, he is already considering taking over the world. 🙂

I wanted to take a quick moment to write about IrisBooks (http://www.irisbook.ca)
I recently received my sample albums, and I am thrilled with them. They are beautifully hand bound linen books (although you do have the option to put an image on the cover). There customer service is top notch. Since this is a high quality product, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for the order, but it is definitely worth the wait! The colors of the albums are just gorgeous, and I believe they are going to be adding plum in the near future.
I am excited for Friday! That is the day I will be giving my clients their beautiful IrisBooks. I can’t wait to see their faces as I hand them these beautiful books. The sample books are a slightly fancier version of the IrisPure books. IrisPure has black end papers and no stamp on the front.
