The Silber Family | Los Angeles Child Photographer
November 22, 2009
I had a great time meeting the Silber Family today, despite little C’s first reaction to me. He was convinced I was a baby sitter, which in his eyes, meant that his parents were leaving him with a stranger. Thank goodness for his lovely little fire truck! I loved so many images from this session. Between the clothing, the leaves and the sun it actually looks like it is fall in California 🙂
A big thank you to Rob for setting this up!!
A New Hurley Family :) | Los Angeles Child Photographer
November 15, 2009
I have to admit all in all today has been a pretty rough day. With that said, the time that I spent photographing the Hurley’s was a wonderful few hours in the middle of said rough day. Â I had a wonderful time meeting these girls and their mother (oh, and let’s not forget Jude!).
Here are some of my favorites from the day!
The Calcagno Family | Los Angeles Child Photographer
November 7, 2009
This morning I had a great shoot with the Calcagno Family. Their son was lovely, and their daughter was super cute. We got to move around the house a bunch, although the light in the master bedroom was so beautiful, it was hard for me to shoot elsewhere. V (their son) was a very good camera assistant too! This was the first family that I shot a little film for, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Halloween | Los Angeles Child Photographer
November 1, 2009
I need to start out by thanking my parents for all the patience, comforting, and walking around that comes along with celebrating Halloween with your children. Especially that one year when my niece and I went to this one house were a fake body rose up from a grave in front of the house we were walking towards.  We screamed louder than one would have thought possible, and we ran back to the car fast.  My dad calmed us down and walked us back to the house, slightly shielding us from the body, but also explaining that it was not real.  Then there was the year where I had a Halloween party.  My mom dressed as a witch, and she even removed her bridge to reveal a large gap where her 4 front teeth should have been.  She went to the store to buy an actual tongue to use for part of the haunted house, and she even took the time to peel grapes so that we could use them for eyeballs 🙂 Thank you mom and dad for all the years you spent with me on Halloween!
I mention all this because last night I had my first glimpse at what parents go through on Halloween through adult eyes. Â I spent the night with my boyfriend’s brother and his family. Â When I arrived I was greeted by their eldest. She was already dressed up as sleeping beauty. Â I helped get their younger daughter ready as a butterfly. I think the sneakers were a nice added touch to her costume. Â Their son was the smiliest batman I have ever seen. We went tricker treating, and we handed out candy. Â Their younger daughter got scared when the neighbors turned on their Halloween sounds, so I carried her the whole night. Â My arm is still a bit soar today, but I really don’t mind a bit. Â She and I even worked out an agreement where if I said trick or treat at each home, she would say thank you. Â It almost worked, but the majority of her thank yous were whispered into my shoulder. Â I left around 8:30 and was ready for bed shortly there after. Â I had one of the nicest Halloweens I have had in a long time (barring last year which was lovely, but for very different reasons). Â It really made me appreciate all the Halloweens my parents spent with me.
I am attaching a few of my favorite photographs from early in the evening. Â I hope every one had a safe fun Halloween!
S and Her Rockin’ Hair… | Los Angeles Child Photographer
October 25, 2009
This afternoon I met little S, her lovely parents, and their two dogs (Linus and Snoopy). We tried to get S to fall asleep, but naturally she was having none of it. I had a lot of fun photographing her and her fantastic head of 6-week old hair!

lil’ J’s First Photo Session | Los Angeles Child Photographer
October 24, 2009
I had a lovely morning photographing little “J” and spending time with his parents (dear friends of my boyfriend). “J” was a bit fussy for the first bit, but as soon as his bow tie tshirt went on, he was as happy as a clam. If I didn’t know better, I would even say that he started posing for me! His dad played the Ukulele (or as Hazel calls it, an “Uncle-Lady”) while his mom played the Squeaky B.
We even got a couple of shots of “J” in his father’s vintage J-200 case. I had a lot of fun this morning, and I am looking forward to showing his parents all of the photographs soon 🙂
Here are a couple favorites…
I have been working on these for a while, and I am very excited to announce that starting today these 4 Good Friends are now available for purchase (individually or as a set of 4). Each one comes in a custom Maple frame. I am completely in love with these frames, and I am now using them for all of my child photography as well. Each friend also comes with a story about how the 4 met. It is a really fun story written by the very talented Phil Hurley. I personally feel that Phil may have missed his calling as a children’s author 🙂 I want to send a very special thank you to Tamsin, one of the owner’s of Wee Soles. She helped originally come up with the idea of photographing vintage toys when I came in with my picture of Sophie. Thank you, Tamsin!
