Two Sisters | Studio City Child Photographer

August 22, 2011

I genuinely enjoy all of my sessions.  I find kids and the way they see the world incredibly fascinating.  Sometimes things just line up perfectly, and this session was one of those times.  I usually blog about a session after it happens, but this one was a surprise, so I had to keep it quiet for a few months.  It wasn’t until recently that I realized I never posted about it.  When I mentioned that things line up perfectly, I really meant it.  This session was such a delight, and to top it off their 3 year old actually kept the secret about the photo session, so mom was genuinely surprised when she received her gift :)
We had a wide variety at this session from pjs to fancy dresses to playing around.  I look forward to photographing these girls again in the future.  A (the older sister) and E are so different, yet very much sisters.  I adore the photo of the two of them in front of the tree.  The way little E asserts herself as the protector is priceless.
Thank you for a wonderful session, G Family!

Little J 9 Months Later | Los Angeles Child Photographer

August 17, 2010

I first met this little guy when he was 3 months old.  I know babies grow fast, but I am in awe of quickly he morphed into an almost toddler.  He may even be walking by the time I post this :)  Little J has such a huge personality for such a little dude.  He is talkin’ up quite a storm too!

Here are a few of my favorites from the day…

First Clients, Second Session | Los Angeles Child Photographer

May 30, 2010

When I photographed this family in March of 2009 (First Portrait Session), they were my first clients that I did not previously know.  I had a lovely time photographing there girls then, and I had even more fun photographing them this time.  This time around their mom helped me come up with what is now my most favorite location.  Perfect light, lots of texture, such a fun spot to shoot in.

I love the last shot of the post.  I was just about ready to walk to my car when I saw the girls playing on a step.   I am very happy I took my camera back out to capture that shot.  So sweet!

Original Kids Display at Jumping Jellyfish! | Los Angeles Child Photographer

February 22, 2010

Today the display went up over at Jumping Jellyfish!  They are located at the fabulous ONE COLORADO in Old Town Pasadena @ 34 Hugus Allley, Pasadena, CA, 91103.  If you are in Pasadena, please stop by for a visit.  It is a great store, and there are lots of great books and clothing!  Below are some photographs of the display, along with some photographs of the store.  Ann, the owner, has so many adorable items.  It was impossible for me to walk out of the door without snapping a few shots!

I hope you all are having a happy Monday!

The Calcagno Family | Los Angeles Child Photographer

November 7, 2009

This morning I had a great shoot with the Calcagno Family. Their son was lovely, and their daughter was super cute. We got to move around the house a bunch, although the light in the master bedroom was so beautiful, it was hard for me to shoot elsewhere. V (their son) was a very good camera assistant too! This was the first family that I shot a little film for, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Halloween | Los Angeles Child Photographer

November 1, 2009

I need to start out by thanking my parents for all the patience, comforting, and walking around that comes along with celebrating Halloween with your children. Especially that one year when my niece and I went to this one house were a fake body rose up from a grave in front of the house we were walking towards.  We screamed louder than one would have thought possible, and we ran back to the car fast.  My dad calmed us down and walked us back to the house, slightly shielding us from the body, but also explaining that it was not real.  Then there was the year where I had a Halloween party.  My mom dressed as a witch, and she even removed her bridge to reveal a large gap where her 4 front teeth should have been.  She went to the store to buy an actual tongue to use for part of the haunted house, and she even took the time to peel grapes so that we could use them for eyeballs :) Thank you mom and dad for all the years you spent with me on Halloween!

I mention all this because last night I had my first glimpse at what parents go through on Halloween through adult eyes.  I spent the night with my boyfriend’s brother and his family.  When I arrived I was greeted by their eldest. She was already dressed up as sleeping beauty.  I helped get their younger daughter ready as a butterfly. I think the sneakers were a nice added touch to her costume.  Their son was the smiliest batman I have ever seen. We went tricker treating, and we handed out candy.  Their younger daughter got scared when the neighbors turned on their Halloween sounds, so I carried her the whole night.  My arm is still a bit soar today, but I really don’t mind a bit.  She and I even worked out an agreement where if I said trick or treat at each home, she would say thank you.  It almost worked, but the majority of her thank yous were whispered into my shoulder.  I left around 8:30 and was ready for bed shortly there after.  I had one of the nicest Halloweens I have had in a long time (barring last year which was lovely, but for very different reasons).  It really made me appreciate all the Halloweens my parents spent with me.

I am attaching a few of my favorite photographs from early in the evening.  I hope every one had a safe fun Halloween!
