Pink + Blue | Pasadena Child Photographer

November 20, 2013

For those of you who do not believe in miracles, I would like to point out that yesterday I had a 2.5 year old and a 3.5 year old listen to me (most of the time) for about 90 minutes.  Anyone who has been around 2.5 and 3.5 year olds knows this is in fact a miracle. 😉

Here are a few favorites from our delightful session at the beautiful Lacy Park in San Marino…

Fun on the Lot | Pasadena Child Photographer

November 3, 2013

Weather has not been friendly to this family.  First there was a giant windstorm, then a rainy Saturday…but this year we finally got a beautiful Fall day.  Not too hot.  Not too cold.  It was just right!

I have always been a lover of films.  My first job was in a movie theater.  Throughout college, I worked at a video store.  I even keep track of each film I watch in a little notebook.  So last year, when we first discussed the possibility of taking next year’s photographs at a movie studio lot, I was elated.  The downside was that I had to wait a year to do it.  But the wait wasn’t too bad, time flew by and then it was time to play around at the studio.  It was so much fun to run around and find lots of different spots to shoot.  And the stoops!  I finally got to take some photographs on a stoop!  It doesn’t sound like much, but there really aren’t many stoops in LA, so it was very exciting for ex-New Yorker me.

I was so excited when I found the spot to lay down the quilt that I ran back to their mom beaming and explaining why we had to move.  It turns out the spiderman shirt was an even better fit than we thought, because during the shoot, I overheard one of the tour buses explain that the location that i had chosen is also where the famous upside down spiderman kiss happened.  Our little spiderman was very impressed that spiderman was shot right there and rather indifferent to the kiss. 😉

Natalie, thank you so much for making a dream come true.

A few favorites from our session.  It is such a delight to watch these kids grow from year to year!

HeArts & Crafts with Little Junebugs | Pasadena Child Photographer

August 3, 2012

Last month, Little Junebugs and Original Kids by Tanya Alexis decided they needed to do a project together.  Two weeks later, we launched our first HeArts & Crafts Event.  The HeArts & Crafts Event will occur once a month on a Saturday or Sunday.  You can find out more details and future HeArts & Crafts dates on the Little Junebugs website under heArts.  I am thrilled to by working with Courtney & little junebugs on heArts & crafts.  I look forward to sharing more with you after the next one. 🙂

here is how it works:
once a month little junebugs will host a three hour family event.
for $30 per child (discounts for families and groups are available!)
They give you a 12×12 canvas and access to all the hearts,
glitter paint, paper and anything you might desire from their studio.
There will be snacks and drinks and plenty of fun,
and I will capture it all.
Once you or your child’s work is done,
I will shoot a portrait of the artist and the artwork in the perfect little studio
(built by Courtney, co-owner little junebugs).
20% of the $30 you spend for the session will be donated to
an AMAZING program that allows children that are living with cancer
to develop their creative voice through the art of photography.
here is a link to the blog Courtney wrote about the project recently…
please check out their website (www.littlejunebugs.com)
to see some of the test photos we shot this week on the new “heArts” page.

Information about Pablove Shutterbugs:

Pablove Shutterbugs is the signature program of The Pablove Foundation. In an educational setting, the 8-week program allows children living with cancer to express and develop their creative voices through the art of photography. Each child receives hands-on experience through a mix of one-on-one weekly instruction and group classes. The students also receive their own camera equipment, which is theirs to keep upon completion of the program. Once a year we celebrate the students’ photographic achievements and raise awareness of childhood cancer with a Pablove Shutterbugs group show at an art gallery. We also offer photography workshops and a week long photography summer camp for children living with cancer.

The Pablove Shutterbugs program currently reaches children in Los Angeles and New York City.
