Mr. & Mrs. Rourke on 35mm | Los Angeles Portrait Photographer

May 25, 2010

I have known Faith since she was 6 years old. She and her sister grew up next door. I spent a large portion of my childhood growing up with her and her family. While I am never good at keeping in touch, the Larsens will always remaining a very large part of my childhood. So, when I received Faith’s wedding invitation, I decided I had to figure out how to get there.

I am thrilled that I did. I saw lots and lots of old faces (all the fellow Sawyer Hill/Canaanites) and met lots of new ones too (my roommate Becca). It was a perfect wedding, and no pressure on me as I was not the hired photographer 🙂 I even shot a couple of rolls of Black & White Film. I am very excited to see how those turned out, but I will have to wait another week for those!

The very talented Janet and E.J. of Blue World Studios (http://www.blueworldstudios.com/) were the official wedding photographers. I am looking forward to seeing their images!

The photographs were shot with Kodak 3200 Black & White and Fuji Pro 800z (Color).  I will never grow tired of that rush of excitement as I step into the lab to pick up newly processed negatives.  Film has a soul that no digital camera can replace, which is why I could never fully replace film with digital (and hopefully, I will never have too).

Here are some of my favorites bits from the perfect day…
